In Cantata BWV 82a, Ich habe genug (O world, I have had enough), Simeon, a devout resident of Jerusalem, waits for the coming of the Messiah. Visited by the Holy Spirit, he was promised to see the Saviour of the world before he died. Joseph and Mary brought the infant Jesus to the temple, where Simeon recognized him as the Messiah. In Simeon’s words: “Lord, let your servant depart in peace, for my eyes have seen your salvation.” Featuring  Laura Heimes and Eileen Grycky in Cantata 82
