Please remember that only "Head-In" parking is allowed at the meters. Backing into a parking spot is illegal year round.
Parking meters:
Parking meters are in effect beginning Friday, May 15 through September 15. 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.
  All parking meters have a maximum of a 12-hour limit with the exception of 30-minute spaces and Grove Park.
  Meter rates are $4 an hour citywide.  Meters are payable by quarters, credit card, or via Parkmobile.
  All 30-minute spaces and accessible spaces require payment durng the parking meter season.
When selecting your time at the pay station, verify that the amount of time and the amount you wish to pay is correct. If you are uncertain, please cancel the transaction and start over. No refunds will be issued.

Please note that no parking is permitted from midnight-6 am on East Lake Drive, Queen, and Prospect from May 14-September 30.

HOW TO USE MULTI-SPACE (PAY STATION) METERS:

When at the pay station, verify that the amount of time and amount you wish to pay are correct. If you are uncertain, please cancel the transaction and start over. No refunds are issued.

1. Remember your license plate including ALL letters and numbers. Approach the nearest pay staion on that block. Enter all letters and numbers in the kiosk.

2. Select BUY or EXTEND parking time.

3. Select payment method. Pay and take your receipt.

ParkMobile is accepted in all metered areas. If you are unsure of your zone number, please contact the Parking Department at 302-227-6184 for Assistance.

Parking Meters:
Meters are in effect from the Friday immediately preceding Memorial Day (May 22, 2009) until and including the second Sunday following Labor Day (Sept. 20, 2009), from 10am until midnight.

Meter info:
  • $1.50 per hour on Rehoboth Ave. and all metered ocean blocks
  • $1.25 per hour on First Street and the second block west of ocean.
  • $1.25 per hour all remaining meters
  • 30 minute meters: $1.25
  • Meters will be retrofitted to accept credit and debit cards

Change machinesare available at Rehoboth Avenue & First Street and on the third block of Rehoboth Avenue next to the Fire Department. Change is also available at the Parking Meter Department at 30 1/2 Lake Ave. (behind city hall). Parking meters accept quarters only.

Limited parking is also available at the Convention Centernext to City Hall on Rehoboth Avenue. Just use the quarter deposit machine in the center of the lot for your desired time and place time sheet on your car dashboard.

Please do not park in driveways, across sidewalks, at yellow curbs or in any yellow areas. Do not allow your vehicle to cross any part of the yellow line. These regulations are enforced and violators will have their vehicles towed or impounded.

Parking Permits: In the non-metered areas, a parking permit is required daily from 10am-5pm the Friday before Memorial Day (May 22, 2009) until Labor Day (Sept. 7, 2009 at 5 PM ). The permit fees are:

Parking Permits are available for sale at the following locations:

  • City Hall - 229 Rehoboth Avenue
  • Parking Meter Division - 30 1/2 Lake Ave (Behind City Hall)
  • Permits are available for purchase at check in time at several local Real Estate Offices.
  • Rehoboth Avenue coming into town after crossing the draw bridge.
  • Bayard Avenue coming into town after crossing over Silver Lake.

Where to get parking permits

-Parking Department - 1 City Hall Drive, behind 30 Lake Avenue
Seasonal parking permits (transferable, non-transferable, and scooter) are available from the parking department beginning the first Monday of April. See parking department hours.
-Kiosk at 408 Rehoboth Avenue coming into town after crossing the drawbridge and going through the traffic circle. This kiosk is open daily 8:30 am-2:45 pm, weather permitting, during the summer season.
-Kiosk in the 700 block of Bayard Avenue, between Norfolk and Stockley streets. This kiosk is open daily 8:30 am-2:45 pm, weather permitting, during the summer season.

Permit fee for scooters......................................$55
(A scooter has two wheels and a step-through chassis and is powered by a motor)
Scooter permits are sold only at the Parking Department, located at 1 City Hall Drive, behind 30 Lake Avenue.
Permits must be affixed to the front of scooters, preferably on one of the forks.
Wherever possible the rear wheel should be placed against the curb.

BUS PARKING:

Two spaces are available in the City Hall east parking lot for bus parking.

No buses are permitted on the street for parking purposes and buses may not be left running while parked in the required parking location. Buses parked on the street or left running will be fined.

Loading or unloading may be done at the municipal parking lot or at the end of Rehoboth Avenue in front of the public restrooms, NOT AT THE BOARDWALK.

Parking Violations  If you need assistance or believe that you were issued a citation in error, call the Parking Department at 302-227-6184.

Pay or appeal your parking ticket online. Payment may be mailed in the envelope provided or deposited in the courtesy dropbox located outside the parking department (The Parking Department is located at 1 City Hall Drive, behind 30 Lake Avenue). Please include the ticket number on the face of your check or money order. (Do not mail cash.) MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express are accepted.

Fines increase if tickets are not paid in the prescribed period. If you have been contacted by a collection agency regarding an outstanding citation balance, refer to the contact information provided on your notice for assistance with questions.

Where Can I Get Change for Parking Meters?
Change for parking meters can be found at several locations. You can make change at the quarter kiosk on Rehoboth Avenue next to the Fire Station, or Rehoboth Avenue & First street next to the comfort station, or at the Parking Meter Department at 30 Lake Avenue (behind City Hall). Also, there are two change machines located on Rehoboth Ave. in the center medians. One is at First St. next to the public restrooms and the second is at Second Street.

•Parking Passes - parking passes available at Dewey Beach Town Hall.  Located at 105 Rodney Avenue, Dewey Beach. 302-227-6363.
•Meters can be fed with quarters.

Comfort Stations & First Aid:A first aid facility is located at the Beach Patrol Headquarters at Baltimore Avenue and the Boardwalk (302-227-2280). It is staffed with a full time person skilled in first aid and with radio contact to ambulance and fire department services. Public restrooms are located at Delaware Avenue and the Boardwalk, Rehoboth Avenue and First Street, and Baltimore Avenue and the Boardwalk.

Wheelchairs & Beach Access: Ramps to the beach are available at Maryland Avenue, Philadelphia Street and the Boardwalk and Surf Avenue and the Boardwalk. "Beach Wheels" wheelchairs are available 9am-5pm each day through Labor Day.  They are at Maryland Avenue and the Boardwalk and Laurel Avenue and the Boardwalk.  They are located on the beach and cannot be removed from the beach.  First come, first served basis, no rental fee. Parking spaces are provided for the handicapped throughout the City. Vehicles with handicapped plates or permits who park in metered spaces will be required to pay the meters.For additional information, please call 302-227-2400 or visit City Hall in the Municipal Building at 229 Rehoboth Avenue. Beach Umbrellas & Chairs: Beach umbrellas and chairs may be rented on the beach from one of the Blue and White huts.  This is a private vendor.  Umbrellas and beach chairs may be rented by the day or per week. These items will be available through September (weather permitting). Grand Rental Station, a local business, also rents beach essentials.  Find them at: www.227rent.com.

ATM Machines: While there are several ATM's located throughtout Rehoboth Beach, there are only two on the boardwalk.  One is under The Green Turtle Restaurant and another is located outside of Grotto Pizza South near Surf Street.

Recycling Center: Behind the City & Police offices on Rehoboth Avenue.

Laundromats: Although no one wants to think of having to do laundry during a vacation, "stuff" happens. There are two facilities in the Rehoboth area-a coin laundromat next to Royal Farms near the traffic circle at the entrance to town and one on Coastal Highway in the shopping area near Midway Speedway and the Midway Movies.

Park n' Ride: Resort Transit & Beach Bus Services
Resort Transit provides bus service from Memorial Day weekend through mid-September 7-days a week from 7 AM to 1 AM on most routes. Serves the areas of Lewes, Long Neck, Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Bethany Beach, South Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island, and Ocean City, MD. All buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts, bike racks and are air-conditioned. The Resort Transit Park & Ride lot is located on Shuttle Rd., just off Route 1, north of Rehoboth Avenue. There is an $8.00 fee to park and everyone in the vehicle receives a FREE Daily Pass. Overnight parking is not permitted.

The Beach Bus operates from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend on Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sundays. It provides service from Wilmington, DE to Rehoboth Beach, with stops at Christiana Mall, Smyrna Rest Stop, Scarborough Road Park & Ride in Dover and Super Wal-Mart in Milford. The last stop is the Resort Transit Park & Ride lot where you can connect with the Resort Transit bus service.
